We’re happy to stay connected between visits, but some health concerns require a scheduled appointment, or an E-Visit, so we can give you the time, attention, and documentation you deserve.
Because we continue to accept insurance for primary care (something most naturopathic, functional, and Chinese medicine providers do not), we need to follow insurance guidelines for billing.
That means any patient-initiated message about a new concern or a significant change from a previous concern—that wasn’t addressed in a recent appointment—may be billed as an E-Visit or require a regular follow up appointment.
An E-Visit may be conducted over:
Secure messages through the patient portal
Text messages to the clinic
Telehealth appointment with our medical assistant staff
This does not include:
Simple administrative questions (appointment scheduling, supplement refills we’ve already discussed, billing questions, directions to the clinic)
Clarifications about instructions from your most recent visit
Why we do this:
Over the last several years, electronic messages have increased exponentially—requiring providers to spend multiple hours each day responding to messages. Complex or new concerns deserve the careful review, charting, and follow-up that can only happen in a proper medical visit. In the past, all medical concerns would have required a full appointment.
For uncomplicated medical concerns, E-Visits allow us to respond more quickly, while still giving you the same level of high-quality care, and ensuring we can keep our integrative primary care services accessible through insurance.
New Patient: Depends on provider availability, Some Providers may have availability within one week, or for others there may be a waitlist of up to 3 months. Please call or text for updated availability
Regular Follow up: Typically regular follow ups are within 1-3 weeks based on individual provider availability
Urgent or Acute Follow up: We have a limited number of same-day urgent appts available. Please call the morning of to inquire
We’re open Monday through Thursday 9:00 am–4:30 pm and Friday 9:00am-3:30pm.

Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative. Integrative medicine combines mainstream Conventional Medical therapies and CAM (alternative) therapies, such as Naturopathic, Functional and Chinese Medicine, for which there is scientific evidence of safety and effectiveness.
At the Koa Clinic, we are a team of practitioners who collaborate together to help each client live a life they love living. We offer a full spectrum of health services to support body, mind and spirit to reach each client’s goals. We believe that “it takes a village,” and our team-based model provides both education and access to the highest quality integrated care leading to empowered individuals and a healthier community.
